led bulbs question. Empty led bulbs question.

Post by Yellowghost Sun Dec 02, 2012 12:44 pm

I have a few questions about led bulbs. I bought a few years back from allied coin. A few clear ones and one red one. Now I want to buy more and don't know what to buy. I remember the guy at allied telling me that these were newest thing and they can only be used in certain sockets and that somebody was going to be releasing better leds in the future. Well the future is now I guess because I see matrix leds, polarized leds, color changing leds, concave lens, flat lens, frosted lens.... I am not sure what I have, it looks like a concave lens and says 6.3 vdc on the side. I want to buy more leds, but I want something a little brighter. My machine is called gettaway and only has red, yellow, green and white plastics. I noticed that the red led did not make much difference under red plastic so should I buy a whole buncha white leds?

This is where you want to buy LEDS from.
They have all sorts of different leds. You will notice the most differnce with white, green, blue and purple.Other colors like red and yellow do not do much with a single led.
I have used a white led behind some colors with good results. You can purchase bulbs with 2 leds 3 leds, ultra bright etc.
It is kinda trail and error with the kind of leds to use that will give you a result that you are happy with

FYI, make sure you type in "PINSIDE" uppercase on the coupon section to get your 10% discount before checkout.

I am wondering about ordering a complete LED kit for my Fish Tales. Wise investment?

I personally do not like the kits,as they chose what they think is the best
looking.
Paulo and GMS always order kits and seem to be happy with them.
The game will look amazing in LEDS

Hey now, I emailed John from the page above and asked him if the LX-7 could be patched with the no ghosting patch he created. He is indicating yes, if anyone wants to add in to my order to Steph to get the latest STTNG LX-7 no ghosting patch rom added to my order let me know ASAP.

Paulo,
I just downloaded sttng_x7.zip from IPDB using the "Special Sound ROMs LX-7" link.

The contents of the file are:
$ unzip -l sttng_x7.zip
Archive: sttng_x7.zip
Length Date Time Name

--------- -------
4245899 11 files

The game rom (mpu board) file is "trek_x7.rom"
I ran the patcher on it and it appears to patch OK.

I can't distribute a modified rom but I am attaching the patcher so you can patch it yourself. The file is a .zip file with the .zip extension removed.
Rename it wpclp_1.4.zip and unzip. Then run it from the dos command prompt.

Enjoy,
John

Just in the middle of changing over my lights to LED's. They do look good so far. I must have a loose connection somewhere
and now the playfield lamps don't work. The playfield G I's work. Looks this swap over might take a little more time than I figured.
Any idea's?

that sucks.
I would start by backtracking your steps and see if you knocked something,or maybe disconnected something by accident

I have had one of the wires break from the main trunk of wires that rest on the bottom of the pin. It's from lifting the playfield up and down and the clump of wires catching on something.
