Qbert was a fun video game. The pinball machine is weird!! But would be neat to try.

Maybe they have an Orbiter 1! That machine with the warped playfield!

I too went with non-pinheads and it was fun but abbreviated.
Pinball Circus is interesting but not a real pinball. Python (RIP), was on the good stuff when he dreampt this one up.

Ontilt you take that back right now!!!!! Pinball circus is a pinball machine and a dang cool one at that! Don't be discriminating against its vertical style.

Python was a good man for bringing something new and amazing to pinball. I don't get why it would be classified as not a real pin.. I want to play one so bad.. If it was obtainable to own one it would be near the top of my list. Just under Funhouse.

It's a cool game , but I can see why it didn't catch on , you can't replace tradition in pinball .

It didn't catch on because its vertical? There are like 2 completed machines or something. Im sure it could have done better had he completed the project. I just cant see why it would be so horrible. It looks beyond exciting. It has everything a normal pinball machine has. Exciting ramps and likely multi ball.
I think its fair to say pinball has gone through some changes over the years. I think this was a good idea. Perhaps I need to play it. But banzai run looked so cool too and is popular. Not the same kinda vertical play but it is vertical.

Obviously I love pinball circus too much.. I hope playing one doesn't shatter my dreams.

I didn't say it was horrible . However as they were put on location , they didn't earn anything above and beyond a regular machine , yet cost a lot to make and more to ship . It was cool to play , but I didn't see anything other than the novelty to keep a person interested long term , like a regular machine and deep rules can .

I did hear that about it being costly. The machine is 1994 it looks like it has a deep rule set. Besides people played EMs for years. They have very basic rule sets but kept players hooked for years. So if it earned like a regular machine that doesn't sound bad.

Im sorry if I may seem sad about your replies but if the only reason pinball circus isn't great is because its not a "normal" machine and lacks a deep rule set I think I will be a fan.

Maybe I just wana knock the teeth out of the ringmaster too!

I'm not quite sure how the game is played but I know the goal is to get the ball to the top. If you lose the balls up top, do you lose them? Or do they drop down to a lower plateau? If they just drop down, the games could last quite awhile, meaning less money earned. Another factor to consider. The twilight zone at hall of fame earned maybe a dollar in two days because the same guy was just playing for so long with +5 billion point games one after the other.

I'm surprised no one tried another project similar to that one (there were a couple other smaller games weren't there?). Having a smaller footprint was a big advantage for video games which is one of the many reasons they took over. An arcade could fit so many more arcade games compared to pinball machines.

But with that being said, a pinball machine is sized the way it is on purpose, just like the standard 2 flippers with the slingshots at the bottom are a must have. In the past pinball manufacturers would experiment with the formula a bit, but in the end it's back to the standard.
