LOTR Memory Reset Problem...
Hey Now, I experienced this issue again this AM after turning on the PIN. It asks to open the coin door so you know the memory has been corrupted. I lost all my Hi Scores and had to tweak the ROM settings back to what I like such as 10 balls -> Joking!
The first time this happened I replaced the old batteries and Darryl put some 2 sided tape on the battery holder since it was wiggling a bit. It appears this has not solved this issue. I found this topic on Pinside and I think I may have to do some troubleshooting to get this resolved:

On a positive note, after a full day of playing and getting scores of 150MIL on long games, no reboot issues. So that issue appears to be resolved for now.

Re: LOTR Memory Reset Problem...
I'm not familiar with those stern whitestar boards. How did he put the tape on the back of the batter holder? Isn't it soldered directly to the MPU?

If it's not a solder/connection problem it might be a problem with the diod between the batteries and the CMOS chip, although it sounds like a connection issue to me. I guess an easy way to test this would be to shut the game off and bang it around a bit.. do you lose your settings? Perhaps a new remote battery holder is in order. It's a good idea to install one anyway.

Hey now, its soldered to directly to the motherboard but it definately was loose, hence the tape. Remote battery holder ($10 shipped) has been ordered and will be installed to rule out that hypothesis.

Thank geezus that I haven't encountered all these issues...yet. I'm not pinball savvy enough. You're a pretty patient guy Paulo. I'd of shoved this pinball up someone's ying yang by now.

Hey dude these issues are minor and can be fixed with time and patience. the rebooting issue was a concern but that seems to have been fixed. Next time I go NIB on my next stern! If they ever do a Walking Dead theme i will be first in line

Re: LOTR Memory Reset Problem...
I asked Stephan to see if he could find the 10.02 ROM that would make my LOTR an LE and allow the connection of a shaker motor. He did not know about this and is on the hunt

The features upgrade from 9.01 to 10 is not huge so I can wait:
CPU Release 10.00 updates:
- Fixed a bug with entering initials for Destroy the Ring Champion when it
was earned during a ToPS Tournament game.
- Cleaned up some hacks related to Sound OS problems (the 9.0x releases, not
in 9.00).
- Fixed a bug where Palantir might try to add-a-ball when all balls were
already on the playfield during multiball.
- Fixed a bug where the game would show the FOTR MB Lit display effect AFTER
you had already started it (this happened if Pippen was the last person to
be collected).
- Russian (& other country) coinage/tournament settings added.

Re: LOTR Memory Reset Problem...
Battery holder is still in transit. I secured the existing holder to have less play and memory resetting has not happened again.
Stephan is shipping me the 10.2 roms that makes my LOTR an LE to allow installation of a shaker. He still does not have the PAL chip so I need to wait for that. Installing the LED kit and shaker will be my Christmas break project.
