It tells you something about the state of pinball collecting - the seller initially set a Buy-It-Now price of $12,000, but the bids have already reached $20,000. Gary Stern probably has all the schematics and production plans for this game via his purchase of Sega and via their purchase of Data East. He could make a mint producing some of these machines from the old plans. It may not be such a great idea though - apparently the game was scrapped because it didn't test well.

Check out the left wireform - it's in front of the slingshot and the ball would come straight out the end like a cannon instead of dropping onto the playfield.  The pictures of the Hutchins HEP restored King Kong on IPDB has a plastic ramp dropping the ball into the left inlane instead.

To me it looks like your TM has a right turn toward the playfield that will direct the ball down to the playfield - the King Kong is wide-open on the end and the ball would shoot straight out (unless the angle of the photo is creating an illusion).

Yes - it's called a Second Chance Offer. I don't think buyers who get the second chance offer usually follow through because they assume the seller has spiked the bids to get to the real buyer's highest offer rather than letting the auction play out normally.
