Packaging a PIN for Shipment, best place to buy....

Hey guys, can I get recommendations for best place to pick up:

1) big roll of mobile wrap
2) ratchet straps
3) 3X3 pallet

I just bought some shrink wrap and tape from Shippers Supply on King Edward

As for Ratchet straps...princess auto or Canadian tire would probably be the cheapest

As for a pallet.......try a place like walmart maybe...they would probably give you one

Looks good Dude, nice job. I am going to use the cardboard and pallet that the LOTR is coming in on Monday with, I like to recycle. So I will post my wrap job after its done.

LOTR arrived, but it had a knick on the bottom right headboard. Those guys at SB packed it really well, but it still got dinged. Should I take up the moving company to fix this? Can it even be fixed? Bummer! Have not unwrapped it yet.

Ouch! That sucks dude. But congrats on the LOTR. I don't know if the company will do anything for you but there is no harm in checking with them.

Hey now, SB setup the shipping via VITRAN. Cost $300 bucks. The ding is located on the back of the headboard on the left hand side. I did sand it down with fine sandpaper to a smooth edge and used a felt tip to color in the black so its pretty much unnoticeable now, but still sucks.
Once setup, the LOTR is actually in very nice shape. The playfield is a 9/10, the cabinet now an 8/10, DMD is bright with no burnt out lights and the sound is good. The right flipper is sticking so it appears the boys at SB did not shop it 100%. I have taken a look underneath but I am not too familiar with Stern yet so I will have to play with it.

Good thing they gave you 90 days warranty.
looks like they did not rebuild the flippers
when I bought from them,there game was full of problems

Thanks! It appears to only get stuck when its used. So starting the machine cold it works fine. I was able to knock out an 85MIL game in about 25 minutes this AM before it starting sticking again. Bad coil? Eiither way, depending on how SB responds will determine if I buy from them again in the future. Hey Now!

I'll second the vote for Darryl. I've bought some pins from him and also needed some help fixing. He's worked on them for years and knows what to look for 99% of the time first guess. Nothing like experience.

LOTR does have a flipper coil problem,and there is an upgrade,,,,,,,,,,,,but usually the problem is weak flippers.

The only other thing that bugs me is the glass has scratches near the flipper area that are noticable when playing. How much would a new stern glass go for?

Could you turn the glass around so the scratch is near the back of the playfield? Might not be as noticeable depending on where it is.

Yeah, that is the first thing I tried and it was much better. However Stern has put these 2 heavy duty stickers on the glass (see photo) that is going to take a razor blade to remove, possibly scratching the glass further. When you flip it, the stickers are upside down!

you can use a razor blade and windex.that should get the stickers off without scraches.
The new glass will not come with the stickers anyway.
you would have to find them online and purchase them if you want them on the glass

Can you get glass cut somewhere here in Winnipeg? If not where would you order the glass from?
