Weird LOTR switch issue...

Hey now, the legolas switch on my LOTR stopped working during the game and switch test. However when I lift the playfield the switch works fine in test mode. I have reseated the connections under the playfield with no change in switch behaviour. Could this be a broken wire in the shrink wrap? I don't think the switch is hosed, I am stumped.

if it does not work when the playfield is down,but works when you lift it,.............could be a broken wire that moves when you lift it up

Hey dude, yeap I am thinking its a broken wire too. I just need to pull it out when I get a chance. Pain in the butt!

no kidding! It's the only switch on that row/column doing that? Is that the last switch in that row/column?

Yeap, its the only switch acting up on the PIN. Noticed it was intermittent a few weeks ago, now it stopped working completely. Until I lift up the playfield!

Okay so that is switch #40 which happens to be the last switch in column #5 (GRN-BLK, WHT-GRY). Could be the switch I suppose but what I would do is check to ensure the diod is good and it's leads are not touching anything that they shouldn't. Other than that I guess you need to trace the wires back to the next switch and ensure the connection is good. To me it wouldn't be anything at the board because all other switches in that row/column work.

Hey dudes, rookie mistake. The diode was not connected on top leg of switch. The legolas figure was blocking it, but once I stuck my finger in there, it came loose! Guess you have to look at the simple things first. Just soldered it back on, working again.

I hate it when I miss this easy stuff! dang it. thanks for the help guys.
